McLaren Special Operations (MSO) is the division of McLaren Automotive that offers bespoke and exclusive services for McLaren customers. MSO can create customised versions of existing McLaren models, as well as unique and limited-edition vehicles that showcase the brand’s innovation and craftsmanship.
If you are a fan of McLaren, you might be wondering what’s new from MSO in 2023. Well, we have some exciting news for you. Here are some of the latest projects and products that MSO has been working on:
- McLaren 750S Spectrum: This is a special edition of the McLaren 750S supercar that features a stunning paint technique called Spectrum. Spectrum is a multi-shade paint technique that creates a rainbow-like effect on the car’s body. The colour changes depending on the angle and the light, creating a dynamic and eye-catching appearance. The 750S Spectrum also has carbon fibre accents, black wheels, and a bespoke interior with Spectrum stitching and embroidery1.
- McLaren SLR Anniversary Exhibit: This year marks the 20th anniversary of the iconic Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren, a grand tourer that was jointly developed by Mercedes-Benz and McLaren. To celebrate the occasion, McLaren hosted several high-profile cars and commemorative events at its McLaren Technology Centre (MTC) in Woking2. The exhibit featured rare and historic SLR models, such as the SLR 722 Edition, the SLR Stirling Moss, and the SLR Roadster 722 S. The exhibit also showcased the evolution of the SLR’s design and engineering, as well as its racing heritage.
- McLaren Solus GT: This is a one-off hypercar that was commissioned by a wealthy customer who wanted to create the ultimate McLaren. The Solus GT is based on the McLaren Speedtail, but with significant modifications and enhancements. The Solus GT has a 5.2-litre naturally aspirated V10 engine that produces 830 horsepower, making it the most powerful McLaren ever made3. The Solus GT also has a unique bodywork that features a large rear wing, a front splitter, and side skirts. The car is painted in a deep blue colour with gold accents, and has a luxurious interior with leather seats, carbon fibre trim, and a central driving position.
These are just some of the latest examples of what MSO can do for McLaren customers who want to personalise their cars or own something truly special. MSO is always pushing the boundaries of what is possible with McLaren vehicles, and we can’t wait to see what they will come up with next.
